The performance “Thumbelina” is a story full of adventure and emotion about a tiny girl who embarks on an extraordinary journey in search of herself and the place where she truly belongs.
Born from a flower, the title heroine takes her first steps under the loving care of her Mother. This peace, however, does not last forever - on that very night Thumbelina is… kidnapped! This is only the first stop along her path, because the marsh is certainly not her world. But where is her world, really? Thumbelina asks herself this question during each of her subsequent encounters - with the Fish, the Beetles, the Mouse, and the Mole. Although each of these characters wants the girl to stay with them, she never feels fully herself or fully accepted anywhere. It seems she doesn’t quite fit in… Fortunately, she is mistaken, and in the end Thumbelina finds her safe haven.
The performance offers reassurance that neither loneliness nor sadness lasts forever, and that everyone will sooner or later find their place and discover what truly makes them happy. “Thumbelina” is a warm and wise story, faithful to the spirit of Hans Christian Andersen, about the courage to explore the world - told with the use of as many as 18 puppets! The audience will also hear 11 songs during the performance. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?
