On the other side, there is no one. Below, little bear Pi sits and waits for someone to swing with - but in vain. Pi writes in his little notebook: “You can’t swing if there’s no one on the other side.” When a tall spruce hits the swing, Pi is launched into space. He grabs a corner of the moon, who reveals to him that he always swings with the sun. During his adventure, Pi meets all sorts of creatures and realizes that in life, too, everything sways - up and down.
Every child has a lonely bear inside, which is why it’s so easy to identify with Pi’s story. The author, gifted with deep sensitivity, skillfully guides young audiences to encounter many familiar emotions.
